Dearest Nicolas,
ReplyDeleteYou have been an extraordinary teacher for us all. Thank you for teaching us about courage, perserverance, stamina, hope, patience, and the profound power of love. Thank you for teaching us about the authenticity of self. Thank you for shining your spirit out in this world and blessing us all with your unlimited gifts. Along your journey you have deeply touched the hearts of many, many souls. Though you walked on this earth for just a short time, your humanity will live on inside us all. Thank you Nicolas, for always being you. May you fly free with the angels....
With Love,
Lisa (a friend of a friend of your beautiful mom).
You can count on a Kingston contingent.

Dear Kathrin and Sebastian,
ReplyDeleteThough I don't know you very well, I know this: your dear Nicolas was very blessed to have you as a family.
Sending my deepest condolences,
Karina
We are so very very sorry!

Dear Kathrin and family,
ReplyDeleteFrom St Brigid School, I send my deepest sympathy. I just heard the news from Karen (Rowan's mom). Our son, Aidan (12), attends Immaculata in grade 7. I was aware of a sick child at Mac, but only now did I realize he was your Nicolas. I am so sorry for you all.
I am also sorry for not staying in touch with you after you moved. After reading this blog, I can see that you are surrounded by a deeply supportive community. And that you have all been amazingly strong and brave and heroic.
In 2001, when our son Aidan was injured, you sent our family food, prayers, and a lovely clay sculpture of a smiling sun that you created for us. You gave us hope and support. I have never forgotten how much you helped us get through a rough time.
I wish your family all of the love and support you need to heal. All of you will keep Nicky's spirit alive forever.
Your old friend,
Margaret Baer-Opazo
(husband Jaime, sons Daniel 15, Aidan 12, Andreas/Jajo 10, and Kieran 3)
Dear Sebastian, Kathrin, Sophie and Sasha (and Bella),
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't hear about Nicky sooner. You guys are great and always showed the most love, compassion and creativity out of any family that I have ever seen. You approached adversity with such strength and humility and caring that your entire community rose up with you to meet the challenge. You were always fair and always loving to Nicky and Nick himself was a tremendous example of courage and strength. His fighting spirit and example of courage lives within all of us who had the pleasure to meet him. You are a great family and he was very loved in your midst.
Thank you for being who you are.
Love.
Yavar
Dear Sebastian,
